It is written in Ramayana- 'बंदउँ बालरूप सोई रामू।' This means that everyone's child (animals and birds too) is the form of Ram.
This story goes back to when Ujjain was India's capital, and King Veer Vikramaditya ruled. King had a great love for children. Children were appointed to every work inside the palace; because he believed children to be innocent, truthful, simple, pleasant, and beautiful. They usually do not commit any sin. It is also written in Ramayana- 'बंदउँ बालरूप सोड़ रामू।' That is, everyone's child (animals and birds too) is the form of Ram, with this thought the Emperor of India made children his "bodyguards" and all the management of the palace was handed over to the children. Once it was a hot summer night. King was sleeping. His bodyguards were sleeping on the carpet under the bed. The King woke up suddenly after hearing the sound of someone crying. It was past midnight and hearing this crying King thought it was a poor and sad woman, King asked “Who is on guard?”
Five boys were guarding that night one by one. One would guard for an hour and others would sleep. When the King heard a woman crying it was a Kshatriya boy named 'Kishore' on guard. He stood quietly in front of the King.
“Who? Kishore?” Asked the emperor.
“Oh, food giver! Please order,” replied Kishore with folded hands.
Kishore Singh, do you hear the cry of a woman? The king spoke.
“Yes, Sir!” informed Kishore.
“Go and see who’s crying at this hour and why?” Deenbandhu Samrat ordered Kishore.
Taking his sword, Kishore Singh walked out of the palace through the secret door. To check on the obedient boy the King followed him secretly as well. The sound of crying was coming from Kalidevi's temple. Kishore went to the temple and saw a very beautiful woman crying. There was a ventilator behind the temple and King peeped inside the temple hall through that.
“Who are you Devi?” asked Kishore.
“I am Rajyalakshmi.” replied the goddess.
“Why are you crying at this time?” asked Kishore again.
“King Veer Vikramaditya's untimely death has come. Where will I find a king like him now? That's why I cry.” The divine lady answered.
“When will the king die?” asked Kishore.
“Today at exactly four in the morning,” said the goddess.
“Can the Maharaj's life be protected in any way?” questioned Kishore with tears in his eyes.
"Yes, it can be; as there is a remedy for all troubles." Devi wiped her tears.
“Tell me! Tell me! how can the emperor of our heart survive?” asked Kishore hurriedly.
“If a bachelor sacrifices himself to Kalidevi, the king will be saved.” After saying this, Rajyalakshmi Devi vanished.
Kishore thought to himself. “Where will I go to find a bachelor? I am single myself. It doesn't matter even if the death of a hundred Kishore saves the life of such an emperor. I will sacrifice myself.” Having said this, Kishore untied the sword, cut his throat, and threw it at the feet of the goddess.
Seeing this condition, the king entered the temple. Seeing the dead body of the devotee child, Maharaj lifted him. The emperor prayed to the goddess, “Either bring this boy alive, otherwise, I will also cut my throat with the sword. I used to understand that no one loves the king wholeheartedly and selflessly. Oh! Where can I find a devotee like Kishore now?” Having said this, the king put the sword on his neck. Immediately Kali Mai appeared and the goddess held the king's hand.
“What's the matter, Rajan? Sacrifice has been taken to keep you alive. You cannot die now.” The goddess took away the sword.
“Mother! If you are happy with me then make this boy alive. If this boy does not live, I will remain dead even while alive! Its sorrow will continue to eat me” cried the King.
“Well you go, your boy will also follow you.” Divine Mai said with a smile.
The king went and laid down on his bed. The goddess put the boy's head on his torso and brought him back to life. Taking his sword, Kishore also returned to the palace's roof.
“ Kishore have you come?” asked the emperor.
"Yes, food giver!" said Kishore.
"Why was that woman crying?" asked the emperor.
“Nothing Sir! Her mother-in-law had beaten her. After persuading her, I took her to her house and threatened her mother-in-law that if you ever beat your daughter-in-law, you will be taken to the king.' replied Kishore making an excuse.
The emperor hugged Kishor and said “Blessed are you Kishore! Your parents are blessed. From today you are my commander-in-chief.”
